Simi Valley Miniature Golf Proposal

By Erik Hansen • May 22nd, 2010

Anna Bakalis from the Ventura County Star newspaper managed to write another interesting article entitled “Simi miniature golf park wins planners’ approval.” Major projects like these directly impact the community, real estate values, and the desirableness of rental property management in Simi Valley.   The Simi Valley Planning Commission praised the project and said Simi Valley is lacking activities for the kids.  This plan includes expanding an existing 25 acre golf course to add three 18-hole miniature golf courses, a public park, community room, clubhouse and other improvements.  Originally, the project proposed for a water park and splash pad, but they were left off the plan.

Ironically, I blogged about a different golf course, The Lost Canyon Golf Club in Simi Valley, where developers propose to build 364 new homes on the struggling golf course site.  And now, this story touches on a different struggling driving range which isn’t bringing in any revenue.  The opposition in the new home development article cited traffic as being the number 1 concern against the plan.  I wonder if traffic would play a role in this miniature golf project with projections of up to 700 people per day expected to visit this site?
